Life and Design in a Pandemic World
During the first lockdown of the Covid19 pandemic in 2020, Founder of Disruptive Urbanism Paula Hirst was working as Director of Strategy at masterplanning and urban design practice Prior + Partners. Very quickly it became apparent that the pandemic would have far reaching implications over the long term for how we plan and design our cities, as the design of our homes and neighbourhoods are a crucial influencing factor on our health and well being. Whilst we were all working at home, Paula led an internal dialogue with Prior + Partners employees to develop a thought piece to gain input from friends, family, contacts, partners and clients on what the pandemic might mean for the future approach to the design of our towns and cities.
This thought piece entitled Life and Design in a Pandemic World sought to contribute to the global conversation about how we can continue to collectively reap the benefits that towns and cities offer to grow our economies and enable us to live sustainably, whilst adjusting quickly to the requirements that living through a pandemic might necessitate.
